Akihito AOI is an associate professor in Architectural History and Theory at Meiji University. He studied Architectural and Urban History and got his doctorate in 2000 at Kyoto University. Over the last 15 years, he has conducted several research projects focusing on the transformation of built/natural environment and people’s daily living practices in Taiwan and Korea under the Japanese colonial rule. He has published many books including “Shinto Shrine and Japanese Colonialism” in 2005 and “Changhua 1906: Urban Renewal Project Runs the City” in 2006.
