The Urgent Modernity - Reviewing Displays of New Urban China Amidst the Curatorial Turn and Global Biennialization
The research deals with architectural exhibitions and other curated displays of contemporary Chinese urbanism from the mid-1990s onwards, as cities within the Pearl River Delta began to gain attention from the international community of designers, architects, critics, curators and scholars. The research will also look into the issues of non-Western modernities, the cosmopolitan nature of cities, as well as local and foreign representations and creative activities of the new urban China.
