Heywood Medal

The Royal Manchester Institute Heywood Medal is awarded annually to artist and architects resided in the Greater Manchester Metropolitan who has demonstrated excellence in design and/or in creative arts.

The recipient for the 1987 Heywood Medal is Edward Ng Yan Yung from Hong Kong. Edward is a young architect recently graduated from the Victoria University of Manchester.

The Medal was commissioned and minted in commemoration of the opening of the Royal Institution building in 1835. The building was designed by Charles Barry.
