Dangzheng Village, Gansu

To mark its golden jubilee in 2013, CUHK teamed up with Wu Zhi Qiao and arranged its teachers and students, together with volunteers from Peking University, Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJU), Stanford University and Oxford University, altogether 70 people, to go to Dangzheng Village, Gansu. The team built a footbridge and a kiosk with over 100 locals which greatly improved the livelihoods of the villagers. Unfortunately after 3 months, a serious flood washed away the bridge. CUHK team immediately built another footbridge to solve the villagers' commutation problem. In Dec 2015, Prof Ng teamed up with 1U1V team and the students from XJU to revisit the village and assess the bridge .
